Just under two years ago I had an experience that I am not likely to forget. I walked on water. ... Ok sort of. I was being pulled across the top of the water. (but thats pretty much the same thing isn't it?) I was looking through some pictures and saw these ones, and immediately I thought to the time of when Peter walked on water. I drew many similarities about Peters experience and likened them to my own. He first saw that the Saviour of the world was walking on water. I just as Peter saw my father quite religiously fly across the surface of the water. I knew that it was possible. I did not quite understand how, but I knew that I could.
Mathew 14:28-3128 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
Now I wasn't quite as quick to jump out of the boat as was Peter, in fact my Dad kind of gave me a nudge and said alright its your turn. I had immediately started perspiring and became pretty frightened. I really wanted to make my Dad happy. (ok and deep down I really did want to barefoot, because honestly it is just so sweet)
30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was aafraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
So the whole story in a nutshell: The boat started to roar and I put my feet on the water. Huge splashes of water were kicking in my face like crazy. I had my eyes closed pretty much the whole time. In the end I bit it something fierce. I sat there in the water wondering what I had just done. My body was very hurt. As I caught my breath I heard the roar of the engine spin around and come towards me. My Dad must have said something like " Well how was that bud". Even though I was experiencing a lot of pain, I thought to myself I just walked on water. If I really put my mind to anything I can do everything! It may take a few nudges,(and with me maybe lots of nudges). Even when we start to sink there is a hand waiting to pull us back up. All we have to do is reach out and grab hold.
31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little afaith, wherefore didst thou bdoubt?
